Its been a while since I updated this thing. Since then, I have gone from LA to India and back to LA and then now I am in Boise. Things have been interesting learning new things everyday as I am finishing up a project here. Not quite sure where I am going next but will be interesting to see what will be coming up as I finish at the end of the month. Oracle is pretty vast and working on a project team with most of the members being on the account for over five years is quite an experience as I learn from them about the different modules in Oracle Financials. Getting to see more of the world I guess and will update again eventually once things settle down after the project ends.

The words of my coworker Alton describe the constant surprise that is a part of Wipro. Things are constantly changing even though they are supposedly final. For my allocation, I am going to over to Boise, Idaho. I have learned a lot on Oracle Apps on the functional side especially in dealing with the financial modules. It has been interesting so far and my coworkers in my odc have been prety awesome and even gave me a frame today as it was one of my last days.

Things have been kind of crazy I guess with some of my other coworkers and trying to get relocated and finding out all the details and what not. We shall see as we find out more but I will be heading up to Boise working on the SuperValu account which should be interesting and give me a different environment.

So went into town today on a taxi with my coworkers today. It was pretty crazy and almost like a safari or off road adventure. There are paved roads and all but the driving here is just ridiculous and mad props to our taxi driver. We headed to the Forum, a shopping area near MG Road (Mahatma Gandhi Road) and Brigade Road. It was pretty much like an American shopping mall to a certain degree. Found some goodies there like Wall-e water bottle and some video games. Video games in India are pretty cheap overall and are around 1000 Rupees, which is around 20 something usd. I picked up Mass Effect and a few other goodies there. After chilling around the mall for a bit, we went in a group to eat lunch at an Italian restaurant. We got to eat beef and other good stuff there after being meat deprived for a while besides chicken. It was pretty satisfying overall. After lunch, we went to market street where there are a bunch of small shops all over and where there were tons of peddlers there. It was a bit chaotic as we were in a large group and stuck out sorely. I will probably go back sometime with a smaller group and a local. We got to see a lot of people both rich and poor and some who are faking and taking advantage of travelers as well. Some of the people hire babies and pose as being poor to peddle people for money and simply beg. Others use their children to beg for money as well, which is pretty conflicting with people who may truly need help.

To answer some questions, my company Wipro is paying me while I am here for training and for food and providing me with a place to stay. The main game tha is popular in India is cricket. In some areas, football (soccer) is popular but cricket is the main sport in India.

I got a chance to check out the night life with my co workers and got a view of Bangalore from the 13th floor of a hotel. It was pretty cool and chill place to see all the lights and sounds of the city.

Well hope you are all well and I will try to upload pictures when I get a chance.

So overall, the flight to India took around 22 hours or so total of flight time during which there were a few breaks here and there. Got to India on Sunday early morning after waiting for a bit for someone from our team to fill out a form for their lost bag. Luckily, all my bags made it despite the long journey. A random note is that we flew somewhere over Iraq on our way from Paris to Bangalore (I went from LAX to ATL to Paris to Bangalore).

Training has been pretty long this week but it was good so far learning more about the company and what my job will entail. Didn’t really get internet connection / laptops til 2 days ago and finally got it working yesterday so havent been able to update much. I will be working with Oracle 11i on the functional side doing stuff with the finance. Material and system has been relatively easy so far and I am catching on fairly quickly as the system is interesting or maybe I am just nerdy like that. Many sites are limited and blocked during working hours and many game ports are also blocked leaving me to be game deprived probably during most of the time here unless I play my nintendo ds or something.

I will be going out to explore the city tomorrow and will take a lot of pictures as usual. However, I probably will not be able to upload but I am not sure yet. I been keeping up with reading and am in Psalms and it has been pretty soothing so far with a good routine going schedule wise. Have been a little busier the past few days but got a chance to work out for a lttle bit and now I am paying the price of sitting around all summer and am pretty sore.

Indian food has been interesting and snacks have been good and all but I am definitely going to say that I am missing beef and seafood after mostly eating vegetables, rice, bread, and chicken in one form or another.

I will try to update as more things come along and hopefully be able to upload pictures soon.

Will be starting on September 12 with an Indian company called Wipro. Will be doing something along the lines of Oracle Functional Consultant and will start as an associate. Training will start with 4-6 weeks in Bangalore, India so this will definitely be a new experience with the tech side that I have always been a big fan of. Of course, this will also mean less time for video games to a certain extent although I will still always enjoy the many new games that are coming out.

I will be expanding my blog to beyond just games as I start to embark on this new journey with my new job and next chapter in life. Thanks again for all those who have been keeping up with the blog.

So it has definitely been a month or so since my last update. Still on the hunt for a job and just taking some time to catch up with friends, games, and everything else. E3 was this past week and unlike the past, it has now become more exclusive and harder to get to unless you are working directly in the video game industry or have awesome press hookups.

Nothing major or new was announced that wasnt speculated on already but more for publicity I suppose. A few cool things like Rock Band 2 and what not but nothing that has me fired up any more than I already have been for the various games coming out.

Rock Band 2

Joystiq and Mahalo were cool to host an E3 afterparty for all their readers and fans as they realized that we could not go as easily. They gave out lot of cool games and swag so that was pretty cool. They had some people from Harmonix come with Rock Band 2 which was pretty awesome as well as Brawl on the Wii, Halo on 360, and Call of Duty 4 on the PS3. I was able to go relatively early and get a good number (44 out of maybe around 250 or so) and ended up taking home Call of Duty 4 for PC and a X-Arcade Trackball Mouse. So my next few hours was spent trying to find games and make it work.

When I first plugged in the X-Arcade, it seemed to work like a normal mouse but the vertical axis was not working and thats when I started to try to debug and look for any software. I looked up their site and was able to find out information on their warranty (lifetime) and support to see if there were anyone else having the same problems. As I read up on the hardware, I decided to take it apart to see the insides. I followed the helpful instructions on the site on how to clean the trackball by taking it apart (the X-Arcade is very solidly built so they are not afraid of people taking it apart). I saw that a screw had come off but could not find the screw anywhere so i started to look for a screw around my house. Just my luck that my toolkit was not around so I started scrounging around my various external cases and fan boxes and finally found an extremely long screw that was the same size but too long. Then I proceeded with a hack saw and some pliers to hold down the screw to cut it to the right length. After this was all done, I put the thing back together only to hear something loose and realized that it was the missing screw. However, I decided to just leave it in after all that effort and to keep on putting it back together. In the end, it was fixed and working again and I have since downloaded a demo of a Hyperbowling and have been
